The US Congress calls on the President Obama to send lethal weapons to Ukraine. A corresponding resolution was adopted by the House of Representatives of the US with a majority of 348-48 votes, RT.com reports. The resolution is not binding.
According to a Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Eliot Engel, who sponsored the document, sending weapons would in no way mean that the US is being involved in a war.
Commenting on the disseminated information that the US does not want to do any radical move, following German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s words not to do so, Engel said: "We shouldn’t be idle, and we shouldn’t sit back, and we shouldn’t let other countries tell us what to do," – RT.com quotes Engel’s words.
