The stage of uncertainty in the relations between Armenia and the European Union after Armenia's joining the Eurasian Economic Union is certainly overcome, the chairman of the NGO "European Integration" Karen Bekaryan said on March 24 in a press conference.
According to him, recently adopted resolutions of the European institutions (European People's Party, the European Parliament, Euronest Parliamentary Assembly), as well as the final document adopted by the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, expressed readiness to develop relations with Armenia and no way consider them as depending on the current situation.
"In May, the Summit of Eastern Partnership will be held in Riga, and on the eve of the Summit, the stage of consultations between the negotiating parties completed," - Bekaryan said. Referring to the expectations from the Riga Summit, the expert drew attention to the need for the mandate of the negotiating team of the EU to secure the legal framework of cooperation with Armenia. "We expect from our negotiating team to expand and deepen the scope of cooperation with the EU", - Karen Bekaryan concluded.
