The rock band System of a Down has launched its Wake up the Souls worldwide concert tour dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Newsweek reports.
According to the source, this is the first time the American rock band, all the members of which are the descendents of Genocide survivors, after a long interval will have a concert. The concert tour kicks off on April 6 with a one in Los Angeles. The band will have concerts in Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Russia, after which they will give a concert in Yerevan on April 23.
"It is a great honor for us to play in Armenia in the year of Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Genocide is illness, which continues torturing us also today. For us, the members of the band, who have the grief of Genocide victims in our families, it is very important to draw attention on this issue," – Serzh Tankian said.
