Today, on April 18, International Day for Monuments and Sites is celebrated, Calend.ru reports.
The motto of the day is: "Save our historic homeland." This day was established in 1982 by the Assembly of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), created by UNESCO.
The holiday is being celebrated worldwide since April 18, 1984, in order to attract public attention to the protection and preservation of cultural heritage.
