Akhtamar Holy Cross Church of Van is included in UNESCO world heritage list. The Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Ömer Çelik wrote about this on his Twitter. He mentioned that 10 cultural buildings of Turkey have been temporarily included in UNESCO world cultural heritage list. "Among those 10 buildings is the Akhtamar Holy Cross Church in Van," - Ömer Çelik wrote.
It is quite interesting that the Turkish Minister declared about this right on April 24 - on the day of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
In October, 2014 the Turkish authorities added on board of the Akhtamar Holy Church "Armenian Church," to include it in UNESCO list.
