A Book on Armenian Genocide Awarded Grand Prix

Family history of the French-Armenian writer and former chief editor of "Elle" magazine Valerie Toranyan appeared in the center of attention of French media and the public, Armenpress reports citing Nouvelles d'Armenie. Toranyan’s book "Foreigner" was awarded the Grand Prix in annual contest "Madame Figaro".

In her book Toranyan tells the story of her grandmother Aghavni, a survivor of the Armenian Genocide. "The story in the book "Foreigner" is terrible and amazing. It tells about the tragedy of the Armenians, who were in a dire situation, about women weary of hunger and heat, who seeing how their husbands and children were being tortured, went mad, tried to commit suicide ", -Toranyan said, adding that the tragedy of the Armenian people did not break them and the survivors of the Armenian Genocide were able to create new life.
