Relations between Russia and Armenia is as of allies, meanwhile, relations with Azerbaijan is not a relationship of allies, we characterize them as a strategic partnership. According to News.am, the Director of the Fourth CIS States Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Pavlovsky said in an interview with Armenian journalists in Moscow.
"Both words are quite clear. Partnership means that we interact strategically - that this interaction has a long-term character. Objective factors that underlie the Russian-Azerbaijani relations are clear: geographical proximity, economic ties, the presence of huge Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia. Azerbaijan is not an ally of Russia, in contrast to Armenia, with which we have a military-political alliance, a number of agreements on mutual assistance, including military," Pavlovsky said.
According to the diplomat, this is the difference, and to say that the relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan are considered at an equal level, is not correct.
