Brussels has issued a negative rule of law opinion on Poland, paving the way for the European Commission to push for sanctions against Warsaw unless it reverses controversial changes to its constitutional court, Financial Times reports.
On the occasion Frans Timmermans, the first vice president of the European Commission overseeing the probe, said:
"Until now, we have not been able to find solutions to the main issues at stake."
