The press-service of the head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini has confirmed that the head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Hansjoerg Haber is leaving his post, RIA Novosti reports.
It is reported that Haber is resigning because of the tensions between Brussels and Ankara over a joint migration deal and concerns about a clampdown on Turkish media and the opposition. However, according to Maja Kocijancic, a spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, relations with Ankara remain strong.
"Turkey is a key partner, it's a [EU membership] candidate country," she said. "Contacts are ongoing at all levels and work continues," London South East reports.
