The head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard said on Monday that the planned meeting in St. Petersburg between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia is a positive step towards a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold separate meetings with the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia on Monday in St. Petersburg, and then a meeting will be held in the trilateral format.
"The EU supports all steps taken in this direction. We, as the European Union, are in favor of a peaceful settlement of the conflict. We support all efforts made, including the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group. To achieve a comprehensive settlement of the conflict it is necessary to establish a dialogue between the parties," Mard told journalists.
