Moscow condemns the seizure of the police building in Yerevan and supports the measures taken by the authorities of Armenia. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
"We strongly condemn the armed seizure of the Patrol-Guard Service Regiment in Yerevan on July 17. It resulted in the death of a representative of a law enforcement body of Armenia. We regard these criminal manifestations that are a direct threat to the lives and security of citizens of the Republic unacceptable," Zakharova said.
According to her, Moscow supports the measures taken by the Armenian authorities. "We hope that they will soon unblock the situation, the hostages will be released, an exhaustive investigation of the incident will be conducted and the perpetrators will be punished," she said.
