Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid's granddaughter Nilhan Osmanoğlu claims the territories of Galatasaray island which belonged to her grandfather. According to her, 32 areas (mostly located in Istanbul) belonging to her family, were illegally taken from them after the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey and the fall of the empire.
According to the Turkish "Birgun" newspaper, Nilhan also actively supports the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the issue of constitutional changes, Tert.am reports.
During one of the TV programes Osmanoghlu announced that she will bring back ''the property of her ancestors by court if necessary," and criticized the reforms of Ataturk in Turkey and said that by the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey the past was deleted, religion and the Ottoman language were forgotten.
It should be noted that Galatasaray Island, was awarded to the member of the renowned Istanbul-Armenian Balyan family Sarkis Balyan in 1872 by the Ottoman sultan Abdulaziz.
