President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on March 25 that Turkey may hold a second referendum on whether to continue with European Union accession talks following the April 16 vote on constitutional amendments, Hurriyet reports.
"Right now we are holding a referendum on April 16 and after that we could choose to do a second one on the (EU) accession talks and we would abide by whatever our people would say there," Erdoğan said adding that if the EU accepts the Yes vote of April 16, they will make his work easier and they can lead Turkey to take more swift decision.
"April 16 is a breaking point for us. For that reason ‘yes’ vote is very important. We will discuss those in detail because Turkey is not the stooge of anyone. Everyone should know that," Erdoğan said.
