The stones of the Armenian Varagavank Church in Van Province (Western Armenia) are being used for the construction of a mosque.
"In order to use its stones for building mosques and nearby buildings the church is being periodically destroyed. The temple is on the verge of extinction, " head of the Union for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Van Ali Kalçık said, Haydzayn reports.
Currently, the Quran studies are being held for local children at the Armenian Church, Turkish "Yeniozgurpolitika'' reports.
The Armenian Varagavank Church was built in the 7th and 8th centuries.
