The People’s Protection Units (YPG) will be disarmed as they withdraw from the Syrian city of Manbij, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said a day after his meeting with his U.S. counterpart Mike Pompeo, Hurriyet reports.
"The weapons that were given to the YPG by the U.S. will be taken back," Çavuşoğlu told journalists in a press conference in the southern Turkish province of Antalya on June 5.
The foreign minister stressed that "no third country would play a role" in the withdrawal of the YPG from Manbij and the "preparations will start in 10 days."
