US supports direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Reeker’s message
Each time I return to Baku I see the growth of economy, the resilience of the people, and the opportunities for the whole South Caucasus region. Philip Reeker, the chief adviser of the US State Department on negotiations in the Caucasus, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, announced this in a video message, 1lurer.am reports.
“Secretary of State Antony Blinken believes strongly in the opportunity for peace and the potential of the South Caucasus. He asked me to return this week to the region, because geography is important. I am here in Baku, going to Tbilisi and to Yerevan, where geography and history meet.
We know that process of peace is not easy. And I know that the conflict has caused great hardship and suffering in all sides for far too many years. However, I believe that there is also hope, hope for peaceful future, hope that momentum will sustain in these peace negotiations, and a new chapter of history can be made for brighter future for all. I’ve seen real steps, courageous steps by both countries, who can make a future and adorable peace.
Secretary Blinken said, both countries are working to a brighter, more prosperous future for the South Caucasus. The US supports direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and urges this momentum to continue into the new year. Real progress has been made, and peace bring the promise of a better, brighter future. I recognize the courage, determination and leadership necessary to reach that destination,” Reeker stated.
