Singapore's Prime Minister Dies at the Age of 91
Lee Kuan Yew, who has been Singapore’s Prime Minister for 31 years, died at the age of 91, BBC reports. As the source writes, during his years in power Lee Kuan Yew was able to transfer Singapore into a wealthy global hub.
Despite this he was very much criticized for restrictions of freedom of speech and for harsh treatment of political opponents.
Lee Kuan Yew has been in hospital for several weeks and was suffering from pneumonia. Learning about his death the US President Barack Obama said that he was a "giant of history."
