Armenia in MIDEM 2015 as an Honoured Guest
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has attended MIDEM international world music festival in Cannes, France, which is held on June 5-8.
MIDEM is one of the most important music festivals in the world, which is held since 1966 and attended by the world's leading recording companies, singers, bands, music publishing and production centers. This year the special honoured guest of the festival is Armenia, which means that the dominant musical theme of the Festival will be our country's music and culture, Armenian Ministry of Culture reports.
The main theme of our participation program will be in the context of these three essential slogans "Memory, Gratitude and Revival" which form the past, present and the future of the Armenian people who had gone through the atrocities of Genocide.
MIDEM music festival is an important platform to show our rich cultural heritage and its contemporary developments to the world. These four days will be filled with music in Cannes along with outdoor stages, concert halls, as well as the works of classical, jazz, rock, ethnic music performances, etc. There will be lectures on culture and folk instruments as well.
As a symbol of MIDEM-2015 Armenia chose pomegranate, which is created in four different colors, representing the four main elements of inspiration - earth, air, fire and water.
Armenia will be represented in the Festival not only by its music, but also some pieces of art, cuisine and fashion will be exhibited. Outdoor activities, for instance, will include dancing performances like "Fortress" and "Yarkhushta’’ by famous Armenian dance groups. Our national duduk, zurna-dhol, and other instruments will also be represented.
Great work is also being done for
