Iranian Nuclear Talks: Victory or Defeat?

The foreign ministers of Iran and the world six powers have again gathered today in Vienna to conclude the process of signing a nuclear deal, as 1 day is left to the deadline. The diplomats have declared about a progress in the negotiations stressing the importance of overcoming the unresolved issues. Their aim is to limit the Iranian nuclear program in exchange of lifting the sanctions.

The US State Secretary John Kerry declared that though signing the agreement has never been so close, there are still questions to be solved, The Voice of America writes. Yesterday, Kerry and the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met several times, after which some progress in the talks was declared. It is mentioned that Iran and the P5+1 have come to a preliminary agreement on sanctions, but the ministers should still give their agreement.

It should be reminded that the deadline for a comprehensive nuclear agreement was June 30, but the sides agreed to extend the deadline till July 7. France expressed a hope that the nuclear agreement can be signed within upcoming 72 hours. This was declared by the Foreign Minister of France Loran Fabius. "I hope that we can reach an agreement that will contribute to peace and security, but everything has to be checked," IRNA quotes French Foreign Minister as saying.

The same source writes the words of the Iranian Foreign Minister, who today on the morning said that the sides cannot come to an agreement around several issues. He also mentioned that the results of the talks are not clear yet.

In his turn the German Foreign Minister called on the negotiating sides to go to compromises. He mentioned that signing a deal on the Iranian nuclear deal would mean that the whole world has won, otherwise it would mark the defeat of everyone.

Analysts claim that signing a final deal would open a new page in Iran-P5+1 relations, creating new opportunities for further strengthening them.
