''Oscar 2016'' - the White Winners and the Black Host

Perhaps the most notable and long awaited moment in American film academy "Oscar" 88th awards ceremony was Hollywood star Lenardo Di Caprio's victory. The actor won this prize for his performance in ''The Revenant'' film, where he created the character of Hugh Glass, whose fellow hunters left him. As a result, Hugh had to fight alone against the bear and got a lot of injuries.

In his speech after receiving the "Oscar" Di Caprio spoke about the importance of the fight against global warming. He emphasized the fact that drastic climatic changes around the world take place every moment, which is one of the most dangerous problems humanity has ever faced. Di Caprio urged all to get unified in order to solve this problem as quickly as possible.

The most interesting thing is that this year the Academy had set a specific time for acceptance speeches to 45 seconds, with the aim of saving more time. "Oscar" winners after receiving their prizes are not allowed any longer to deliver long speeches.

The award ceremony was also marked by the fact that there were no main categories including black Oscar nominees. As the Washington Post writes, "Oscars So White" had been trending on social media and been a topic of discussion ever since last month. Legends like Spike Lee and Will Smith chose not to attend tonight's ceremony because of the lack of diversity in nominated films. This is the second year in a row of all-white acting nominees.

Chris Rock's opening monologue launched at the Academy's diversity issue head on; cutting no corners in his full frontal assault on the controversy surrounding the #OscarsSoWhite protests.

Asking why it had become such an issue in 2016, he simply stated: "Why are we protesting this Oscars? It’s the 88th Academy Awards, which means this no black nominees thing happened 71 other times."
