"Armedia" IAA presents an exclusive interview with a karate world champion Arthur Arushanyan, who is now a volunteer on NKR-Azerbaijan border.

-  Arthur, how did you decide to become a volunteer in the war? What were the reasons for such a decision?

-  First of all, I am from Karabakh. At the very beginning of the war we registered as volunteers together with my friends, but there were so many people already on the frontline that no one was sending us. it was only recently that we managed to get to Martakert.

- How would you assess the situation in Martakert now? Is there tension?

- People create tension and panic. At the moment the situation is relatively calm and normal.

- Have you ever met an Azerbaijani, for example during your sport activities?

- I had a lot of occasions to meet with Azerbaijanis during my work in the sphere of sport. Even recently I went right from the border to karate championship tournament in Russia, and met face to face with an Azerbaijani sportsman at the semifinal. He and his whole team seemed to have some inner fear. They seemed to avoid us, they didn't want to in teh center of attention.
