The US Senate Has Passed a Bill to Extend Sanctions Against Iran

pbs.org

The US Senate has almost unanimously passed a bill to extend sanctions against Iran by another 10 years. As TASS informs, a total of 99 senators voted in favor.

The document authorizes the US president to impose restrictions on individuals and entities involved in the ballistic missile program, supporting terrorism and human rights abuses. It is yet to be signed by US President Barack Obama.

According to US administration, the president would not support initiatives that might undermine the nuclear deal with Tehran. Nevertheless, White House spokesman Josh Earnest failed to give any definite answer about the future of the bill.

"We'll take a look at what bill is passed and determine whether or not the President will sign it," he told reporters.
