Davit Babayan about Nalbandian-Mammadyarov Meeting

A1Plus

Commenting on the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers in Brussels yesterday, David Babayan, the President’s spokesman of Artsakh, stated that "any meeting is important and we have always valued such meetings. This is also an important platform for ensuring the continuity of the negotiation process and making the international community's opinions accessible to the parties," Artsakhpress reports.

"Unfortunately, Azerbaijan continues to violate the ceasefire regime. It depends on what kind of country it is, and Azerbaijan is a terrorist country. As it turned out, during the meeting the main emphasis was put on peace and stability, which is very important. And this is the only real topic that should be discussed and somehow promotes progress. It is still premature to talk about the final peace, but in general, the meeting can be considered important, and we hope that it will play a role in strengthening peace stability," D. Babayan said.

Speaking of the agreements reached at the Vienna and St. Petersburg Summits, Babayan noted that it is one of the mechanisms of stability and peace preservation.

"We hope the international community will be consistent in this issue. It’s true, that Azerbaijan will do its best to overthrow the process and this proves the fact of the recent tensions. However, it is important the international community to express its position once again, and this position was voiced repeatedly. They are against any power option and tension in the conflict," Babayan added.
