Tigran Sargsyan: The Powers of the Eurasian Economic Commission Should Be Expanded
The most urgent task today is to expand the powers of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). Tigran Sargsyan, the chairman of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, stated this today at the 12th international conference "Eurasian Integration: Stagnation or Development?" organized by the Eurasian Development Bank.
"The most urgent task of the EAEU today is the expansion of the powers of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Consequently, the responsibility of the Commission should also grow," Tigran Sargsyan said. According to him, today the EEC can only monitor the implementation of agreements and make recommendations, but cannot make countries fulfill their duties and arrangements.
The Chairman of the Board noted that conflicts arise because individual countries are putting aside common interests and are guided by personal interests, and there are no specific tools for enforcing certain decisions - for example, the ability to sue.
"There is no alternative to this project (Eurasian integration, edit.). Accordingly, we must jointly react to all challenges," Sargsyan concluded.
