Nikol Pashinyan, Petros Terzian Discuss Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Further Activities
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Petros Terzian, Interim Executive Director of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund. “I am glad to see you, although I believe that the circumstances that led to our meeting were not that joyful as they are associated with the events that took place within the Fund. Of course, it is very painful for us that an unacceptable act was committed on the part of the Fund’s Director, but I also want to emphasize that after the receipt of information to that effect, we could not proceed otherwise, because our principle is that legality should be unquestionable in Armenia, and there cannot be a second opinion.
In general, we could witness a certain atmosphere of distrust around the fund in recent years, perhaps due to the internal political situation in Armenia and so on. But I hope that as a result of these processes, we will be able to clarify our vision of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s future activities, define new approaches in relationships, forms of interaction between the Diaspora and Armenia, and the Fund, of course,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
Noting that in the current situation it would be interesting to hear the opinion of Petros Terzian, one of the most trustworthy representatives of the Fund, the Prime Minister thanked him for assuming the duties of fund manager under such difficult and not too favorable conditions.
In turn, Petros Terzian noted: “For us, this news was a big shock, because nothing like that had ever occurred in the Fund’s history. We were strongly convinced that it was a clean structure. Major programs had been implemented over the past 26 years; huge efforts had been made to ensure the Fund’s transparency under these conditions, which was quite a difficult task. I think we had succeeded by the time this case was exposed.”
The Interim Executive Director of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund assured that they would do everything possible to spend the donors’ money purposefully. “Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is important not only for its past record, but also for its future, as we have many programs and undertakings,” Petros Terzian said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the Fund’s future activities.
