Idlib: US ''Mission'' in Syria has Gained a New Direction

globalwarnews.ru

The actions planned by Russia, Iran and Syria to liberate the state of Idlib from terrorist groups in recent days are severely criticized by the West, especially the United States.

The latter has again blamed the Syrian government for intentional use of chemical weapons, warning that Washington and its allies France and Britain will give an adequate response to any such action. "In recent days we have tried to send a signal that if chemical weapon is used once again then the response will be much stronger than before," said John Bolton, US President's Advisor on National Security.

US permanent representative to the UN, Nicky Hailey, in turn warned Russia and Iran that the ongoing bombings in Syria could have extremely negative consequences. "Russia should stop wasting our time, it does not matter what weaponry and means are being used, the United States strongly opposes any aggravation of the situation in Idlib," Hailey said, warning that if Assad uses chemical weapons, Washington will give adequate response.

It is noteworthy that the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime in the past had been used by the United States in order to attack the Syrian government forces. Therefore, it is not ruled out that talks about Assad's intention to use chemical weapons are the basis for the US and its allies to carry out a military operation in Syria.

In this connection, Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasili Nebenzia said Moscow expects US and its allies to provide information on the structures in Syria that are believed to produce chemical weapons.

Earlier, Bashar al-Assad considered the use of chemical weapons by the government troops as illogical since "how can the army use chemical weapons in the place where its forces are located, as the military can be injured as a result of the use of chemical weapons."

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in his turn said that "Trump thus tries to solve internal political problems as his position in the United States is hard to regard as stable''.

It should be noted that the establishment of control over government forces in Idlib, which is one of the last areas under control of terrorist groups in Syria, will accelerate the establishment of peace in the country. In this context, Washington's active attempts to hinder the liberation of Idlib are quite noteworthy.

If it seemed earlier that the United States had lost interest in Syria, the resistance of Washington to the liberation operations shows that the reality is quite different. The US administration continues to show interest in Syria and tries to keep its remaining influence zones in that country.
