Nikol Pashinyan Receives Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, who arrived in Armenia to participate in the 17th summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
Welcoming the Foreign Minister’s visit to Armenia, the Prime Minister stressed the need for continued development of Armenian-Lithuanian relations, including in the frame of international organizations. Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the importance of economic cooperation, noting that the Armenian government is keen to attract Lithuanian businesses into Armenia’s market. The Head of Government said targeted reforms are being implemented to improve the business environment in our country, aimed at ensuring investment security, a free and transparent business environment.
Noting that he had closely followed Armenia’s political developments, Linas Linkevičius hailed their peaceful nature and the fact that changes were implemented in a democratic manner. He expressed conviction that the Armenian reforms would give new impetus to economic exchanges. The Lithuanian Foreign Minister stressed that his country is ready to share experience with Armenian counterparts in the fight against corruption with a view to establishing an equitable judicial system, etc.
Speaking about Armenia-European Union relations, Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the soonest possible ratification and full-fledged implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The Premier said Armenia eager to develop and expand multifaceted cooperation with the EU.
The parties discussed regional challenges, touching upon other issues of mutual interest. They took the opportunity to exchange views on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan stressed the need for shaping an appropriate atmosphere for the talks and settling the conflict exclusively through peaceful means.
