Acting Prime Minister Receives Heads of CIS-Member States’ Penitentiary Services
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received heads of the delegations that have arrived in Armenia to attend a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Penitentiary Services. Note that by the Government’s decision of October 4, 2018, October 19 is celebrated as the Penitentiary Servant’s Day.
Welcoming the guests, the Acting Prime Minister noted that the work of penitentiary services is extremely important in terms of addressing challenges related to security at national, regional and international levels, enforcing legality and fighting against organized crime. Nikol Pashinyan noted that the deepening of cooperation within the CIS will help promote interstate ties.
Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the need for continued improvement of penitentiary services, compliance with modern standards, exchange of experience, staff training, reintegration of persons serving sentences in penitentiaries and cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
Thankful for the reception, RF Federal Penitentiary Service Director Gennady Kornienko described as effective the activities of the Council of Heads of Penitentiary Services of CIS-member States. He assured that the Council will continue to work actively and record results in the fields of general policy development, exchange of information and experience, enhancing work efficiency, as well as in the fields of social integration of convicts, retraining and other issues in the spheres mentioned by Nikol Pashinyan.
In conclusion, the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia wished the Yerevan meeting successful proceedings.
