Strategic Relations of Armenia and Russia Provide the Security Guarantee between our Countries: Sergey Kopirkin

The armed forces of Russia have been, over the course of history, inseparably associated with the Armenians, who had their invaluable contribution to our military’s accomplishment, Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopirkin said today, congratulating the veterans of the Soviet Army on the Defender of the Fatherland Day, ''Tert.am'' reports. 

Speaking to reporters in Yerevan’s Victory Park (which hosts celebrations marking the special holiday), Kopirkin also called for government efforts to step up the interstate strategic alliance as a "key security guarantee".

"The history of the Armed Forces of Russia has been inseparably connected with the Armenians, who really played a crucial role in their accomplishment. Our strategic relations today provide the security guarantee between our countries, as well as the region. As you are aware, Armenia is home to the 102^nd Russian Military Base. Also, our border guards are engaged in the defense of the state borders of Armenia – which, certainly, is a great contribution by Russia. That reflects the brotherly relations between our states, characterizing the centuries-old history, " he noted.
