May 9: Price for Peace is Life Itself
There is a price that is being paid for war. History knows many wars that have lasted for decades and even centuries. But wars cannot last forever, it is against human nature, it is against common sense. And thanks God! After all, the price paid for war is life itself...
There is a price that is being paid for peace. And no matter how much one repeats "bad peace is better than a good war," those who have not experienced war, fail to understand the depths of these simple words. And they are lucky - it is better not to know what war is. After all, the price for peace is the memory of the war.
Today, on May 9, Armenians celebrate the Victory Day – a victory over fascism in 1945, a victory over the Azeri bombing and shelling in 1992 and a victory over their own destiny, when the Karabakh army was created. Triple celebration, that gave the Armenians hope for peace...
Armenians paid a price for this fragile peace - young people from their gravestones silently confirm that the price paid was too high. But the meaning of peace is also very high for the kids, who go to school in peaceful circumstances and learn Armenian alphabet; for the youth, whom the older generation gave the opportunity to enjoy the quiet stars...
No, peace is priceless. And today is a good reason to remember that peace should be protected. We must cherish and remember: May 9 - very hard-won data. After all, the price for it is life itself.
