Armenia Eyes Qatari Investments in Various Sectors, Says Qatar Chamber Official

Qatari businessmen are expected to visit Armenia next year to explore investment opportunities in the former Soviet republic following an invitation from Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, a Qatar Chamber official has said, The Gulf Times reports.

Board member Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Obaidli, who met with Sarkissian on the sidelines of the ‘Summit of Minds’ held recently in Armenia’s northern town of Dilijan, said the president “is very interested to attract more investment to his country.”
Al-Obaidli said the Armenian president lauded the strong relations between Qatar and his country, “and stressed his desire to strengthen these relations in all fields, especially in trade and economy.”
“The investment climate in Armenia is attractive and includes a lot of incentives … we also discussed aspects of co-operation between the Qatari private sector and its Armenian counterparts in many sectors, especially in food security,” al-Obaidli added.
