Armenia Security Council Secretary to not participate in elections in Karabakh
Armenia will be the guarantor of fair and transparent elections in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is what Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan told journalists today, confirming one of the statements that Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan made in his speech at the rally held in Stepanakert on August 5.
When asked how Armenia plans on being the guarantor, Grigoryan stated that Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) is currently considering the new Electoral Code and that Armenia has contributed to the introduction of the maximal democratic mechanisms in the draft Electoral Code. When asked if there is any fear that the situation during the election campaign might get out of hand, Grigoryan assured that there won’t be any tension, News.am reports.
Journalists reminded the Secretary of the Security Council that he is originally from Karabakh and asked him if he is likely to participate in the elections, to which Grigoryan said he is registered in Armenia and can’t participate in the elections in any way.
