Hakob Mkrtchyan: I Dedicate My Victory to My Son

Hakob Mkrtchyan who had become a champion in the 89kg weight class of the World Weightlifting Championship in Thailand, shared his impressions with the ANOC press service. In 2014 Hakob Mkrtchyan had become a Youth Olympic champion and, comparing the two achievements, he said:

“To be honest it’s difficult to compare. The feelings are the same because for an athlete his all achievements are important,” he said.

Hakob Mkrtchyan said family played an important role in his victories. The Gyumrian wrestler dedicated his victory to his son who would be born in a few months. “I dedicate my victory to my son. My family is very important to me because in every championship first of all I think of their prosperous future,” Hakob Mkrtchyan ended.

Let us recall the European current champion had scored a total of 375 kg (167+208). In the snatch the weightlifter from Gyumri had been the 4th and in the clean and jerk he had won a small silver medal.
