Armenia's National Assembly Speaker Receives Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi
On December 3, the President of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received Ayman Safadi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan who arrived in Armenia on an official visit.
Welcoming the guest the NA Speaker expressed confidence that his visit would promote the development of the two countries’ relations. Ararat Mirzoyan also conveyed his greetings to the Presidents of the two Chambers of the Parliament of Jordan and informed that the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Jordan recently proposed by letter to increase the number of the Jordanian students studying in the higher educational institutions of our country in the frameworks of Armenia’s educational programme and gladly gave positive solution to this issue with the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport. The NA President has noted that this programme of the exchange of students is a wonderful opportunity for developing the relations between the two countries and for familiarizing our peoples to our culture. He has also stressed that Armenia and Jordan should not be pleased with these educational programmes, they, certainly must be developed and expanded, but there other numerous spheres too, where the two countries have great potential of development of relations. Speaking about the inter-parliamentary cooperation Ararat Mirzoyan has noted that the parliaments of the two countries have Friendship Groups which is a very good platform for developing the parliamentary relations, though there have not been mutual visits by now. The NA President reaffirmed the invitation of the RA National Assembly to the Jordanian MPs to visit Armenia. He also talked about sensitive items for Armenia, touching upon Nagorno Karabakh problem Ararat Mirzoyan has assured that the authorities of Armenia are faithful to the solution of the problem through peaceful negotiations. The RA NA Speaker also emphasized that the positions, resolutions of all other countries which can be accepted on this or other platform, should be at best balanced, otherwise the current flexible, relative peace could be damaged.
Ayman Safadi has thanked for the reception and has noted that he is in Armenia for the development of the two countries’ relations. He has underlined that Jordan and Armenia have genuinely great potential of the development of relations and singled out especially several spheres: agro-business, tourism, information technologies, also talked about opening direct flights and budgetary avian companies. He has informed that now 120 Jordanian students study in Armenia and expressed confidence that the two countries will build good cultural relations. Ayman Safadi has informed that an invitation will be sent to Ararat Mirzoyan for visiting Jordan, and in the near future the visit of the King of Jordan to Armenia is expected.
