Elizabeth II is Disappointed with Prince Harry’s Decision to Resign
British Queen Elizabeth II is very disappointed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have announced their intention to resign from the senior members of the royal family and live in the United Kingdom and North America without discussing it with Buckingham Palace in advance, USNEWSTODAY reports citing The Times.
According to its information, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not consult either with the Queen or Prince Harry’s father, heir to the throne, Prince Charles of Wales, before announcing their decision in Instagram. The publication draws attention to the fact that the reply of Buckingham Palace was quite sharp. “Discussions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to find another approach, but these are complex issues that will take time to work through,” says the monarch’s office.
Earlier Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that after “long months of reflection and internal discussions” they decided to “stop acting as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent. At the same time, the Dukes of Sussex announced that they would launch their charity organization, but would continue to perform certain royal duties.
The Times notes in this regard that the intention of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to live in Britain and North America is unprecedented for members of the royal family, who continue to perform certain functions in it. They are usually associated with appearances in public at official and charitable events.
