Artsakh has Been and Remains the Victorious Spirit of Our People: Serzh Sargsyan
Third President of the Republic of Armenia, Hero of Artsakh Serzh Sargsyan issued congratulatory message on general elections in Artsakh.
The congratulatory message reads:
"Dear Compatriots,
On March 31, I closely followed the general elections in Artsakh. The polls are over; and the preliminary results have already been summarized. And whatever the reaction of individual states and organizations to recognize or not the results of the international standards-compliant elections, it is obvious that the citizens of Artsakh have exercised their inalienable right to free expression of their civic stance.
It is important now to continue working together to make this reality perceptible to the international community and partner nations. The newly elected authorities of Artsakh should concentrate their efforts on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and confidently present in this light the aspirations of Artsakh’s people.
With the same awareness and in our national interests, we must first of all accept the results of the democratic elections in Artsakh, set aside our personal and political sympathies and desires, and respect the choice of the citizens of Artsakh.
I am glad that this mentality is shared by my heroic combatant comrades who participated in the electoral campaign, as well as by representatives and individuals of other key political forces in Artsakh who stand ready to shake hands and are committed to cooperation.
Artsakh has been and remains the victorious spirit of our people, the symbol of unity and a focus of daily care. Our people spared nothing to protect that sacred portion of our homeland in danger: they gave what is supposed to be the most precious value - their children’s life.
This very day four years ago, our children joined their senior friends, crowned their names with the nearly three-decade old heroic deed of their fathers and grandfathers, which allowed the triumphant Artsakh to opt for a dignified future instead of choosing between life and death.
Glory to our heroes!
I hope that the second round of presidential elections will boast the same high-level organization and voter turnout, and Artsakh’s newly elected authorities will take up the crucial mission of leading the country through today’s complex geopolitical environment full of challenges and dangers.
I want to be sure that the preventive measures taken by the incumbent authorities against the worldwide plague have produced the desired result, and we will not have any worries whatsoever in the near future. The threat has not yet been curbed. Please continue to be vigilant, take care of your health and life. You understand that there are still many challenges ahead.
I will do my utmost to promote peace and security for Artsakh for the sake of international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh and to the benefit of Artsakh’s citizens. Artsakh’s interest is above all.
Dear sisters and brothers,
I congratulate you and all of us on holding free, fair, transparent and competitive elections.
I also congratulate those political forces that have won seats in Parliament. They should responsibly live up to the expectations of the citizens of Artsakh and all those Armenians who have been supporting Artsakh for decades. God bless Artsakh and our people!"
