NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs Agree on New Measures to Support Georgia and Ukraine in the Context of Black Sea Security
NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs have made a decision on new measures to support Georgia and Ukraine in the context of Black Sea security, interpressnews.ge reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
According to the Ministry, the NATO Ministerial was held on April 2, 2020, and despite the restricted and remote format due to the coronavirus pandemic, the issue of Georgia remained on the Alliance's agenda.
"Within the framework of the Ministerial, along with issues related to COVID-19 and international terrorism, the Ministers discussed and decided on new measures to support Georgia and Ukraine in the context of the Black Sea security.
It is worth noting that the measures include: greater involvement of Georgia and Ukraine in the exercises of NATO and its member states in the Black Sea; enhancement of cooperation against hybrid threats; Georgia's involvement in the Black Sea airspace data exchange regional programme; greater involvement of Ukraine in the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) and Defense Institution Building School (DIBS) events.
These issues were discussed during a telephone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the NATO Secretary General on March 27, 2020. The parties agreed to continue working on the implementation of the agreed issues”, reads the information released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
