Pashinyan on Coronavirus Crisis: This Isn't Healthcare Issue

The coronavirus-related situation in Armenia is not a healthcare issue, as the health authorities are making every effort to curb the spread of the infection, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a Facebook live on Wednesday, addressing the recent surge in the coronavirus cases and deathsPanorama.am reports.

The premier stressed it’s more a matter of abiding by law and order.

"Should I now bring out the special forces and beat people to have them observe law and order? How can I do such a thing? I'm not used to it; I am here for a different culture of communication,” he stressed.

Referring to his recent posts showing violations of anti-coronavirus rules set by the authorities, particularly public gathering, the PM stated the flash mob is not aimed at putting the blame on some individuals for the coronavirus crisis.

"The problem is to acknowledge the situation we are facing. We have known our problem for a long time. What kind of culprits can we be looking for when it comes to our parents, everyone, our national security? The question is, do we want to overcome this situation or not? The problem is clear with established clear-cut rules,” he said.

In particular, he pointed to the gatherings outside banks and post offices. Pashinyan once again urged people to follow the safety rules to prevent more coronavirus fatalities in the country.
