US State Department: $2.7mn in Aid Provided to Armenia in Fight Against COVID-19
The US Department of State continues its efforts in the global fight against COVID-19, and Armenia is among the hundreds of countries that have received assistance from the United States to this end, the Voice of America Armenian Service reported.
The United States has provided $2.7 million to Armenia to counter the coronavirus, according to a State Department press release on the US global efforts against COVID-19, news.am reports.
As per this press release, these funds provided to Armenia are aimed at increasing the lab capacity, to improving the management of severe cases, planning community-level preparedness, assisting in risk communication as well as health and hygiene promotion, increasing expertise capacity, and some other objectives.
According to the aforesaid State Department release, in general, US assistance to Armenia has exceeded 1 billion 57 million dollars over the past 20 years, of which about $106 million has been allocated to healthcare issues.
