On 7 July Artsakh Republic President Arayik Harutyunyan convened a consultation with the participation of healthcare minister and advisors to the President on healthcare and social issues.
The Head of the State noted that in conformity with his pre-election promise to have a free healthcare, the first local programs are being brought to life. On the President's instruction, the medical expenses of more than 100 infertile couples who applied to the Ministry of Healthcare will be fully funded by the state, step by step.
According to President Harutyunyan, beneficiaries of the next healthcare program will be all the participants of the Artsakh Liberation Struggle and the Great Patriotic War. It will enable the representatives of these social groups, in case of having a cardiovascular disease, to use all types of treatment services, including open and closed heart surgeries, free of charge in Artsakh and Armenia medical institutions. The President also noted that starting from the following year the entire healthcare system will be free of charge and anyone will have an opportunity to take advantage of these programs.
The re-equipment activities of the new Mother and Child Health Center of Stepanakert were also touched upon at the discussions. Arayik Harutyunyan noted that by the end of the year the necessary equipment will be purchased with state and charitable means, and instructed the officials of the sphere to take practical steps in that direction.
