CSTO Urges to Immediately End Fire in Armenia-Azerbaijan Border
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) expressed a serious concern over the escalation of the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and called for an immediate ceasefire, CSTO spokesperson Vladimir Zaynetdinov told RIA Novosti, Armenpress reports.
"The CSTO Secretariat is deeply concerned over the escalation of the situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border which started on July 12 after the military clash of units of the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan, including with the use of heavy weapons which resulted in fatalities and injuries", the spokesperson said.
The CSTO says the current situation does not contribute to the normalization of the situation on the border of the two countries, one of which – Armenia, is a CSTO member state, adding that the current situation also shows the violation of an agreement on ceasefire which has been achieved between the leaderships of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"The military-political leadership part urges to immediately cease the fire within the frames of the CSTO responsibility. We express our condolences to the relatives and families of the victims and wish a speedy recover to the injured", the CSTO said.
