John Bolton: If He Wins a Second Term, Trump Will Pull the United States Out of NATO
Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton has said that if Donald Trump wins a second term, he could pull the United States out of NATO. Bolton said this in an interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt, MBS News reports.
“Leaving NATO is only approved by a handful of Republicans. But if Trump wins the election, that hurdle can be overcome. Who knows what he will do in a second term?” Bolton wondered.
Bolton advised the EU to continue to maintain diplomatic relations with the United States, mainly through Congress, if Trump wins the November 3 election.
“The House of Representatives and the Senate can oppose Trump. If it comes to leaving NATO or withdrawing a large part of US troops from Europe, this could meet with strong opposition from both Democrats and Republicans,” Bolton said.
