New Patrol Service to Start Operating in Yerevan in the First Quarter of 2021
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today held a consultation to discuss a police reform-related agenda. Reference was also made to the launch of the new patrol service.
Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan elaborated on the recruitment procedure, the procurement of vehicles and other equipment, the selection of qualified trainers, etc. He advised that the Police Training Complex will proceed to the training of short-listed applicants as early as in mid-October, 2020 with a view to shaping a public image of well-trained Armenian policemen endowed with new functions, equipment, novel skills and a new mentality.
The Minister noted that the reform is progressing smoothly in tune with the proposed timetable. The patrol service will start operating in Yerevan as early as in the first quarter of 2021. It will be fully operational across the country from the first quarter of 2022.
The meeting discussed other issues related to structural and personnel improvements, as well as to the stationing of the newly established patrol service.
Highlighting the importance of having an efficacious patrol service in Armenia, the Prime Minister instructed those in charge to continue working actively in accordance with the government-approved timetable.
