France Wins 18th Junior Eurovision Song Contest
11-year-old Valentina representing France has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020, giving her country its very first win. Valentina stunned audiences watching at home with an incredible performance of "J'imagine (I imagine)*, finishing with an impressive 200 points, ebu.ch reports.
France first took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and returned to the competition in 2018.
Valentina, whose idol is Ariane Grande, said the favourite lyric of her song is "So it’s true, it’s not always joyful, in our hearts it’s a bit like a fight. And you? Tomorrow - what do you do? Imagine with me! because it reflects reality – life is not always easy and fun – but yet has a strong hopeful message at the end - imagining a brighter future together!"
Karakat Bashanova from Kazakhstan, picked up 152 points to finish in 2nd place with “Forever”. Spain's Solea singing "Palante” was 3rd with 133 points.
