PACE is Unhappy with Armenian Army's Statement
PACE is unhappy with the Armenian army commanders' statement on PM Nikol Pashinyan's resignation, News.am reports.
PACE co-rapporteurs for monitoring in Armenia Boriana Aberg and Kimmo Kiljunen said PACE is extremely concerned about the recent events in Armenia.
According to them, the statement made yesterday by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, which called for the resignation of the democratically elected government, is unacceptable.
They call on all political forces and statesmen to fully respect the democratic principles and the Constitution of Armenia and to take all necessary steps to immediately de-escalate the current situation.
Armenia is going through a very difficult stage in its recent history and more than ever it needs calmness, restraint, wisdom, and unwavering support for democratic principles by all stakeholders in order to resolve the political crisis it is facing, PACE co-rapporteurs added.
