Discussions Underway on Creating Stronghold of Russian 102d Military Base in Armenia’s Syunik province: Pashinyan

Issue of passing to professional army should seriously be discussed, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the NA today, noting that the contract and draft military service structure should be essentially changed, Aysor.am reports.

He said the issue of enriching the opportunities of Russian 102d military base in Armenia are being discussed.

“Discussions are ongoing to create stronghold of the 102d military base in Syunik province. Russian border guards are engaged in the defense of Armenian state border in a number of sectors of Syunik province,” he said.

He said Defense Army together with Russian peacekeeping forces will continue ensuring Artsakh’s security.
