Pashinyan Receives Newly Appointed Kazakhstan Ambassador
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Armenia Bolat Imanbayev.
Congratulating the Ambassador on the launch of his diplomatic mission, Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia and Kazakhstan are closely cooperating in both bilateral and multilateral formats, yet the bilateral trade turnover falls short of the existing potentialities.
“Greater attention has to be paid to economic partnership which is one of the most important indicators of evolving interaction,” the Acting Premier said, noting that there is a strong and vibrant Armenian community in Kazakhstan, and our country appreciates the fact that the Kazakh government supports and facilitates their activities.
Ambassador Imanbayev conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, First President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Askar Mamin. He assured of his readiness to do his best to develop the Armenian-Kazakh political, economic, cultural and humanitarian partnerships.
Echoing Pashinyan’s view that there is huge untapped potential in the field of economic exchanges, the Ambassador said he would actively work in both economic and other mutually-beneficial directions. The Kazakh diplomat highly valued the role played by the Armenian community in Kazakhstan’s public life, noting that an ethnic Armenian politician had been elected to Kazakhstyan’s parliament in the latest general election.
The interlocutors went on to exchange views over the Armenian-Kazakh bilateral agenda, and in this context, dwelt on ways of expanding it further. Both sides highlighted the role of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which is scheduled to meet during this year.
Noting that he was impressed with the 2021 Almaty Digital Forum and Kazakhstan’s experience in this sector, Nikol Pashinyan described the prospective interaction between IT communities as quite interesting.
Ambassador Imanbayev said Kazakhstan is implementing structural and strategic reforms. In this context, he stressed the need for exchanging experiences with Armenia, given the latter’s successful reforms in tax administration, healthcare, education and other areas.
Nikol Pashinyan next addressed the situation established following the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, the humanitarian issues, noting that Azerbaijan’s continued disregard of the 8th clause of the 2020 November 9 statement can undermine the regional stability. The Acting Prime Minister briefed the Ambassador on Azerbaijan’s policy of destroying Armenian churches and monuments in those territories which have gone under their control, stressing that the progressive international community should do its utmost to prevent such acts of vandalism.
In conclusion, Nikol Pashinyan wished the diplomat fruitful activity and asked him to convey his warm greetings to President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, First President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Askar Mamin.
