Zakharova: Russia Sees Need to Demarcate and Delineate Armenia-Azerbaijan Borders as Soon as Possible
Russia sees the speedy launch of demarcation of the borders and the succeeding delimitation as a sustainable and long-term solution to the Armenia-Azerbaijan border issue. Maria Zakharova—Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation—said this today, news.am reports.
Zakharova stated that ‘the incidents that took place on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border are due to the fact that the border is not internationally registered by law, and there is also a lack of mutual trust’ "Russia continues to make active mediation efforts that are targeted at de-escalation of the situation. The Russian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense and border services are closely coordinating efforts with Yerevan and Baku. The tension has weakened over the past week, and relevant consultations will continue to be held in order to settle the border dispute. We affirm our willingness to most actively support the process of demarcation and delimitation," she added.
