Russian MFA: Moscow Continues to Work on the Release of Armenian POWs
Moscow continues to work on the release of Armenian prisoners of war in exchange of mine maps. Deputy Director Alexey Zaytsev of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry said this during a briefing Thursday, News.am reports.
“Russia knows that mourning ceremonies were held in Armenia and Azerbaijan on the day marking the first anniversary of the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. We fully share the grief of the relatives, friends and close ones of all the victims from both parties to the conflict. We assume that the statements that the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed on November 9, 2020 and on January 11, 2021 serve as a reliable guarantee that such tragic events won’t happen again. In its efforts to stabilize the situation in the region, Russia is focused on implementation of the objectives arising from the trilateral agreements and advancement in all sectors. We continue to work on the release of Armenian prisoners of war in exchange of mine maps and are certain that this will contribute to the improvement of relations between Yerevan and Baku,” Zaytsev said.
