PM Pashinyan Chairs Discussion on Situation Caused by the Coronavirus and Vaccination Process
During the consultation chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic in the country and the vaccination process were discussed.
The Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan noted that during the last day 19,360 tests were carried out in the country, out of which 1863 cases of the disease were confirmed. According to the Minister, as a result of the rules applied from October 1, the rate of testing of the citizens has sharply increased, as a result of which the number of positive tests has also increased. According to her, this contributes to the early detection of the infection and the prevention of its further spread. According to the Minister, 22 medical centers have been set up in the country for the treatment of coronavirus, and the number of beds will be increased by 350 in the coming days, bringing the total number to 2877.
In several medical centers in Yerevan, Sevan and Hrazdan new departments will be appropriated for coronavirus treatment starting from Monday. Currently, there are 2019 beds in the inpatient departments of medical centers, and 382 beds in the intensive care units. It was noted that 930 people are in serious condition, 222 people are in critical condition, 89 patients are connected to lung ventilation equipment.
Referring to the inoculation process, the Minister noted that 16,722 citizens have been vaccinated in the last day, bringing the total number of vaccinated citizens to 583,745.
Exchange of views on the activities to maintain the anti-pandemic rules to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and to promote the vaccination process took place. Reference was made to the results of the decree approved by the Ministry of Health, which came into force on October 1, 2021, according to which economic operators must require their employees to have a vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test once every 14 days.
A number of issues related to the consistent implementation of measures against the spread of coronavirus and ensuring their effectiveness were discussed. In this context, the continuous increase of the pace of the vaccination process, the infrastructural capacities were highlighted, especially the ensuring of strict control over the process of wearing masks in closed areas.
The Prime Minister instructed the heads of the corresponding departments to continue actively fight against the violations of the anti-pandemic rules, to give a new impetus to the promotion of the vaccination process in order to keep the epidemic situation under control and to ensure public health responsibility. Wide public awareness was highlighted in this context.
